13 Day Culture & Cuisine of Peru

For the Inca, gold symbolized divinity, not opulence. Believed to be the blood of Inti, the sun god, the precious metal was reserved exclusively for the emperor and the most sacred of sites. In a sense, this trip is our gold standard; a gripping journey through time that explores the world of the Inca by connecting you with their ancestors, their delicious cuisine, and the ruggedly beautiful land from which they came. Go with us and discover the world that was and the world that is in divine style.

As one of the world’s emerging gastronomy destinations, your stay in Lima is paired with private car service and dinner reservations, with evening options including an abundance of world-class restaurants, such as renowned Chef Gastón Acurio’s beloved Astrid y Gaston. After arriving in Cusco, get a first-person perspective of the world of the Inca at Awana Kancha, a village in the Sacred Valley whose residents have kept ancient traditions alive for centuries. Later in the mountain towns of Chinchero and Maras, you’ll earn an appreciation for the art, culture, and food of the Andes – especially the fascinating terraced fields of Moray, a marvel of Inca agriculture – before heading deeper into the Sacred Valley on a guided horseback tour atop a Peruvian Paso en route to therapeutic spa treatments at a luxe full-service spa. Next, explore the fascinating Lost City of the Inca on a private tour of Machu Picchu, then return later to hike the final stage of the Inca Trail through the Sun Gate on a moderately challenging trek before embarking on a stirring walking tour of colonial Cusco, the former capital of the Inca kingdom. From there, the scene shifts to Lake Titicaca where you’ll be introduced to the natural splendor of the world’s highest navigable lake via excursions to the floating islands of the Uru people; and the wild birds, archaeological sites, and incredible landscapes of the scenic Aymara Route. Last stop: Lima, where a private guide will lead you on a tour of the stunning Casa Garcia Alvarado, complete with a sumptuous meal with the estate’s owner.
